The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with the latest design innovations, great cameras, tough protection features and cutting-edge security that make it attractive to many people.
Both sport the same sleek look and feel. The main difference is size – the Galaxy S8+ is a little under half an inch bigger, at 6.2 inches to the S8’s 5.8 inches. The screen on both phones looks great and the colours really jump out. Videos, web pages and spread sheets appear pin-sharp and Samsung’s Infinity Display means the front is almost all screen. So it’s easily big enough for split screen multi- tasking, while the curved edge design means that while it looks big, it still feels narrow enough to fit comfortably in your hand.
Both phones are built to last too, with curved Gorilla Glass to withstand the rough and tumble of everyday use. They’ll even survive being dropped in 1.5m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes thanks to IP68 water and dust resistance. The metal frames feel sturdy but lightweight and include a new USB-C port for speedy file transfers and fast charging. There’s fast wireless charging too if you prefer.
Both S8s feature an iris scanner and face detection on the front, with a fingerprint scanner around the back for ease of use. You can choose the level of security you feel you need for what Samsung claims is its most secure phone to date. Need even more protection? A service like O2 secure mobility combines both the mobile device management (controlling which apps can and can’t be installed and applying device security policy) and mobile security (checking the behaviour of apps and phone is ok). Plus it saves you the unfeasible potential cost of micromanaging mobile app access privileges in-house across a fast-growing fleet of devices. And it’s a great way to make sure your people enjoy the right balance of freedom, great user experiences, and security.
The 12 megapixel camera gives plenty of detail and with 4K video and a new, high-resolution selfie camera, whether you’re taking snaps or video conferencing, you’re in good hands. If you want it, there’s also a high-quality 8 megapixel selfie camera on the front.
Bixby, Samsung’s new personal assistant, can offer you key info like appointments and weather to the left of your home screen and it even allows you to search, shop or translate text by just pointing your camera at something.
Running on Android means plenty of choice of business apps, including Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, available from O2 Business.
And with big batteries and powerful processors delivering day-long, fast-paced productivity, these are two extremely hard-working smartphones. If you want to learn more about any of our devices, contact your account manager.
